Theater Folx of Color (TFOC) is a supportive affinity network of people identifying as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) who work in the theater.
We are artists, administrators, activists, donors, board members, consultants, educators, commercial producers, casting directors, agents, talent managers, students, technicians, critics, and journalists.
Our community empowers BIPOC theater folx with information, connections, resources, and inspiration.

Over the past two decades, I have worked across the theater industry as an administrator, consultant, activist, dramaturg, educator, and teaching artist. My nationwide experience as a leader in the industry has given me a unique perspective on the challenges and possibilities for BIPOC in the theater.
I created this group in 2018 because I was feeling isolated after stints at oppressive predominately white institutions like Yale. I wanted to find new ways to fellowship with BIPOC people. I knew a few others who were feeling the same way so I started this group and invited people in.
Our vision has outgrown what our Facebook Group can offer. Thank you to the 14K+ members who have made it such a special place over the years.
Our new home on Circle.so is in a completely private, safe space where we own our data, and where we can control the experience. Circle.so offers more robust privacy, customizable spaces for dialogue and resource sharing, and the ability to host workshops, gatherings, and collaborations—without the noise and surveillance of corporate social media.
I hope you will join our Circle 💙,
JP

"This group has been a source of encouragement and perspective during moments when I’ve felt uncertain about my path. Even just reading through other people’s posts, whether it’s someone celebrating a success, asking for advice, or being vulnerable about struggles, has helped me feel grounded and reminded me that I’m part of a larger community."
